Frequently Asked Questions about Haystack Sculpture
What size are the sculptures?

The average size human form is four to six inches tall - animals in proportion accordingly. The minimum is three inches - the maximum is fifteen inches.

What are they made of?

They begin with wire armatures, then polymer clay. Each piece is painstakingly constructed with attention to proper proportion and detail. Although bronze or metal finishes can be applied, most are realistically painted, then sealed for protection and colorfastness.

Are they durable?

Yes, the construction and materials allow them to be enjoyed for generations. Depending on the subject matter however, small pieces or intricate detail work may require the same gentle care you would use with any other piece of delicate artwork.

How are they mounted?

Desktop pieces may be mounted on wood, stone or sculpted base. Caketop sculptures vary depending on the subject. Display boxes are an option in some cases.

How long do they take to make?

Depending on size and detail, your sculpture will take an average of sixty days to ninety days complete. Some pieces require longer, simple designs may take a shorter period of time.
